SaskPower says a residential smart meter pilot program is being extended to the end of the year.

It’s because of a worldwide shortage in electronics production.

That pilot program asked for volunteers to test out smart meters in homes with the plan being to install 20,000 smart meters. About 8,800 have been installed.

SaskPower says they are working hard to ensure those who signed up will receive a smart meter and that updates will come when more information is available.
