Regina Police will be out in full force at Mosaic Stadium Friday.
Spokesperson Les Parker says they are sticking with their plan from the previous two seasons in 2018 and ’19.
“We basically blow the dust off the old plan from 2019 and still remember all the different details,” Parker said. “Beginning in the afternoon, there will be no vehicle traffic allowed on Elphinstone Street. Access will be limited to the transit buses and there will be many road closures in the area.”
Parker says while it’s hard to predict how the night will go, they know there will be lots of people in attendance.
“You’ll be able to see our officers present at Mosaic Stadium, they’ll be wearing masks just due to the inability to keep two metre distance in the crowd,” Parker said. “Even though public health orders are lifted, we just ask that people give consideration to the pandemic safety.
“We’re also reminding drivers to be patient and leave early enough to find parking time, just be patient, watch out for the many, many pedestrians that will be out there.”
Some streets around Mosaic Stadium will be closed to allow for transit and foot traffic:
- Argyle Street south of Dewdney Avenue to 9th Avenue
- Elphinstone Street between Saskatchewan Drive and Dewdney Avenue
- 9th Avenue from McTavish Street to Montague Street
- 10th Avenue closed westbound at Montague Street
- North Railway Street closed westbound at Elphinstone Street.
Regina Transit will also be operating free transit for ticket holders at a variety of locations throughout the city:
- Southland Mall
- University of Regina — Lot 2
- Eastbound Saskatchewan Drive at Hamilton Street
- Westbound Victoria Avenue at Scarth Street
- Northbound Albert Street at Ninth Avenue
- Sixth Avenue at Hamilton Street
- Dewdney Avenue at Scarth Street
- Dewdney Avenue at Lorne Street.
