Environment Canada is forecasting some more hot weather this weekend, with day-time highs approaching the mid-30’s in many areas of Saskatchewan.

Meteorologist Terri Lang says despite that level of heat, we may not see any heat warnings.

“Temperature-wise for the overnight low’s, it’s very, very dry so we’re seeing that the overnight low’s are falling below our warning criteria for heat warnings,” Lang said. “We’re going to certainly have really warm days, but we might have some cool nights just because it’s been so dry.”

Lang says she would not be surprised if there was another blast of heat this year.

“I never say never, especially (because) this year has been one like no other,” Lang said. “We started really early with the heat, so it wouldn’t surprise me if we went into fall with more heat events.”

While heat warnings may not come into play, wildfire smoke from BC may blanket the southern third of the province, depending on wind direction according to Lang.

Heat records are also not expected to come from this blast of hot temperatures.
