Estevan man facing 12 charges after drug and weapon possession incident in downtown Regina

A man from Estevan is facing a dozen charges in connection to a drug and weapon possession incident that took place in downtown Regina on Friday.

Just before 5:00 that afternoon, police observed a man standing in a busy driving lane on Saskatchewan Drive near the Broad Street intersection. Police attempted to assist the man, but he then ran away. After a brief foot chase, the man was found inside of a hotel parking lot and arrested.

A search revealed a firearm, ammunition, a knife, and a substance believed to be meth.

37-year-old Gregory Powell faces 12 charges:

· Possession of a Weapon,

· 2 X Carry Concealed Weapon,

· Careless Storage of Firearm,

· Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized,

· Possession of a Restricted Firearm With Ammunition,

· Tampering With A Serial Number of a Firearm,

· 2 X Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order,

· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000,

· Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), and

· Fail to Comply With Release Order.

Powell made his first court appearance Monday morning.
