Saskatchewan Hockey Association changing its name

The group in charge of hockey in Saskatchewan will now be aptly known as “Hockey Saskatchewan”

The rebrand was announced on Wednesday just days before a new season begins with the organization saying this name change brings them in line with Hockey Canada where “hockey” comes before the organization’s location.

Hockey Saskatchewan says this will also eliminate confusion as the Saskatchewan Hockey Association, as the organization was called for years, shared the same acronym as the Saskatchewan Health Authority which due to COVID-19 is in the news frequently.

In making the announcement, Hockey Saskatchewan says ““As an organization, we felt it was a good time to update our name and logo. Given the ongoing pandemic, confusion surrounding the acronym played a role in this change and we hope this will clear matters up when identifying our organization.

With more than 43,000 members across the province, Hockey Saskatchewan is the province’s largest sports body.
