The town of Indian Head has decided how it will honor the memory of RCMP Constable Shelby Patton.
The community has announced they will develop a new Constable Shelby Patton Memorial Park.
Facility Operations Manager Mackenzie Craigie, said they decided to honor Patton’s memory with a park because of his and his families involvement with physical fitness .
“Something that him and his wife were really involved in, was physical fitness, and luckily, we have an awesome space partially developed already in town,” said Craigie. “Just seemed like the perfect fit for a memorial park for Shelby.”
The park will include a monument for Constable Patton, an area for outdoor exercise equipment, a running track, and a sitting area.
Constable Shelby Patton was tragically killed in the line of duty on June 12, while responding to a report of a stolen vehicle.
The fundraising project will cost about $150,000.
