Evans back on field but return to lineup isn’t coming soon

When the Riders hit the field Tuesday to start getting ready for Saturday’s game in Calgary, Shaq Evans was out there with his teammates.

Evans continues to recover from a broken foot  that he suffered August 14 against Hamilton.   Despite the fact he was out on the field catching some passes and doing some running. head coach Craig Dickenson says he is still a ways off from getting in the lineup.

I don’t know where he is at on the six-game list, but he’s not able to practise yet. ” Dickenson said. “He’s catching some balls but I think he’s two to three weeks away from being able to run on it like he needs too.

While players like Kian Schaeffer-Baker, Brayden Lenius and Mitch Picton have stepped in and performed well with Evans out of the lineup, Dickenson admits the offence has missed its star receiver.

I think we’ve lost a little bit without Shaq, I really do,” Dickenson said.  “Getting him back will definitely add a little juice to our offence and I know that we’re excited to have him back.”

Nick Marshall did not practice yesterday, but Dickenson said he was taking a vet day as he was banged up after the win over the Lions.
