Riders sign WR Duke Williams

One of the CFL’s best deep receivers in the last decade is on the way to Saskatchewan.

The Riders have signed wide receiver D’haquiile “Duke” Williams. Williams played the last two seasons in the NFL after two seasons with the Elks in 2017-18.

Williams led the CFL in both receiving yards (1,579) and receiving touchdowns (11) in 2018. In his two years in Edmonton he was the second-deepest targeted receiver in the CFL.

The Riders have the lowest passer rating on deep balls this season. And an interception on one ended their chances of a win in Calgary.

The Riders started nine Canadians in last week’s game vs. the Stampeders, so they can put Williams into the lineup freely when they feel he’s ready. He will need to pass quarantine requirements before he’s able to play a CFL game.
