The number of those in hospital due to COVID-19 continues to rise in Saskatchewan.
Wednesday numbers from the government show there are 356 people in hospital which is an increase of 16 from Tuesday with 76 in the intensive care unit which are both record-highs as the healthcare system continues to struggle with the fourth wave that has hit the province in devastating fashion.
In all, there are 478 new cases to report as well as seven new deaths bringing the provincial total to 733.
The new cases are located in the Far North West (25), Far North Central (1), Far North East (29), North West (88), North Central (28), North East (10), Saskatoon (153), Central West (5), Central East (16), Regina (50), South West (9), South Central (5) and South East (21) zones and thirty eight (38) new cases have pending residence information. The active case count sits at 4,313 which is a drop of 72 from Tuesday’s report.
362 of the new cases are in people who have not been vaccinated. This includes 99 in the 0-11 age bracket who can’t receive a vaccine due to their age.

The province says 4,223 vaccines were given to people on Tuesday. Of those 4,223, 2,442 were first doses.
At this time, just under 745,000 people are fully vaccinated.
