The country returned to pre-pandemic employment levels in September, adding 157,000 jobs across Canada.

According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate fell to 6.9 percent. The last time the country had an employment jump like this was June of this year when 231,000 jobs were added to the economy.

In Saskatchewan, the province gained 11,500 jobs province-wide. The unemployment rate is down to 6.3 percent, well below the national average.

Major year-over-year gains are being seen in wholesale and retail trade, which is up 9,300 jobs, while healthcare and social assistance report 7,000 new jobs.

The private sector was also up with 18,000 new jobs, an increase of 5.6 percent.
