Saskatchewan goes into Thanksgiving long weekend with 576 new COVID-19 cases

The Thanksgiving long weekend has arrived in Saskatchewan and it comes with the announcement of 576 new cases.  Of those 576, 469 come in people who have not been vaccinated with 147 of those in kids 11 and under who can’t be vaccinated.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (31), Far North Central (1), Far North East (21), North West (102), North Central (34), North East (15), Saskatoon (146), Central West (3), Central East (43), Regina (58), South West (34), South Central (14) and South East (35) zones, and thirty-nine (39) new cases have pending residence information.  The active case count now sits at 4,692.

There are also four new deaths bringing the provincial total to 741.

343 people are in hospital including 71 in intensive care.   The province says  261 of the 343 patients in hospital (76%) were not fully vaccinated.

When it comes to vaccines, 4,657 were given Thursday.  Just under 2,500 were first doses.  Just under 750,000 people in Saskatchewan are considered fully vaccinated.
