Road construction and repair remains at the top of the list when it comes to how the city should be prioritizing things as it plans for the 2022 budget.

73 percent of 1,300 residents who answered a survey on the topic say that area remains number one on their spending list with public safety and recreational faciities being third which replaces snow clearing.

In a release, the city says the feedback received from that survey is valued as they can understand what is important to residents which is important when forming a budget that will maintain or improve services affordably.

Those who took part in the survey added maintaining or increasing capital spending and reducing residential property taxes were high on the list. When it comes to new and emerging priorities, topping the list was community-based safety and wellness initiatives.

A 2022 budget update will be presented Wednesday at a meeting of Executive Council with the proposed budget coming out in late November and hopefully being finalized in mid-December.
