Number of ICU patients in Saskatchewan continues to grow

For the third day in a row, a record has been set when it comes to those in the ICU being treated for COVID-19.

Numbers on Monday from the Saskatchewan government show 85 people are now in an intensive care unit which is up one from Sunday’s report.

In all, there are 335 in hospital with 76 percent of those people being ones who are not fully vaccinated.

There are 279 new cases of the virus being announced on Monday along with four new deaths as the provincial death total grows to 785.   Of those 279 new cases, 216 are in people who have not been vaccinated including 64 in the 0-11 age bracket who can’t receive a shot due to their age.  The new cases are located in the Far North West (3), Far North East (15), North West (17), North Central (30), North East (5), Saskatoon (69), Central West (6), Central East (32), Regina (50), South West (19), South Central (12) and South East (12) zones and nine (9) new cases have pending residence information

There were 2,100 vaccines put into the arms of Saskatchewan residents on Sunday including 711 first doses.
