Regina Police have charged a man after allegedly threatening the lives of Premier Scott Moe and someone from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.

Police say they received a report about a threatening e-mail being sent from a fake account to random people earlier this month.  That e-mail had a message about the pandemic and health-related mandates and had what are called “non-specific threats to the lives and safety of both government officials and law enforcement while mentioning two people by name.  One of those names has been confirmed to be that of Moe, but the name of the other individual is not being released.

38-year-old Tobechi Okwonu has been arrested and charged.  He will make his first court appearance Dec. 1. In the meantime, Regina Police say he has been released on “strict conditions”

UPDATE: It has been confirmed by the provincial government that Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab was the individual from the Ministry of Health that also received life-threats by the alleged suspect.
