Regina golfer gets into the winners circle

It took a while, but Regina’s Alex Schmidt can finally call herself a collegiate golf champion,

In what was the last event of the fall golf season, Schmidt, who is a senior at Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho, won the Bushnell Invitational in Creswell, Oregon Monday as she posted a six-stroke victory.   While Schmidt, who is a member at the Royal Regina, has had some podium finishes during her time at Lewis-Clark, she had never won.

“It was super exciting, it was definitely a fun way to end the fall season,” she told Golf Saskatchewan’s Clark Stork. “I have been putting a tonne of work into my game and to have it all pay off was a pretty special moment and to have my parents there to see it happen and hug me on the 18th green was even more special.”
