Riders hope third time is the charm against Stampeders

The 5-4 Saskatchewan Roughriders hope the third time is the charm Saturday, when they face the 5-5 Stampeders in Calgary, the third straight meeting for the green and white and the third meeting in four games for the Stampeders.

The Riders receiving core could look a lot different, as Coach Craig Dickenson said both Shaq Evans and Duke Williams are looking like they’ll play.

“Yeah Shaq and Duke are trending up,” Dickenson said. “We’ll watch some more film and see from there, but both of them finished practice and felt good, we’re not sure how many plays we can give them, but they both looked ready to play, so it looks like they’ll play on game day.”

Evans broke his foot in week two and Williams signed as a free agent last week.

As for A.C. Leonard, Dickenson says he’s still 50-50, the defensive lineman hurt his knee at the end of practice on Wednesday.

“We’re not so sure about A.C., he didn’t make it through practice,” said Dickenson. “He went out and tried to move around a little bit and did okay, we’ll be making a decision on him later tonight or tomorrow,” Dickenson added.

Elie Bouka, Blace Brown and Christian Campbell will not play on Saturday.

Kickoff from Calgary is 7:45 p.m. Saturday night, pre-game coverage will start at 4:30 p.m. on 620 CKRM.
