It was the Brandon Holtby show in Edmonton Saturday night.
The University of Regina goaltender broke a Canada West record that was set 87 years ago as he stopped 50 shots in a 3-0 win over the University of Alberta. No goaltender in conference history has stopped that many shots in recording a shutout since Ralph Maybank did it for Alberta in a game played in 1937.

The win was also Regina’s first over the 3rd ranked Bears since beating them 5-2 in 2009 Canada West semi-final game. Until Holtby’s heroics, the Bears had won 54 straight games against Regina.
