Proof of vaccination or negative test now required for all REAL venues

Falling in line with a requirement from Regina City Council, proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test will now be mandatory at every facility on the Regina Exhibition Association Limited campus.

This takes effect Monday, November 1.

REAL’s Manager of Communications and Public Affairs Mark Rathwell, said they’ve come up with a unique idea to make sure everyone is complying with the rule.

“So because of the size and scope of our facility, and the nature of what we do here, what we’ve done is we’ll also be employing ‘roaming vaccination checkers’ who will be conducting spot checks,” Rathwell said.

The rules apply to anyone 12 or older, however for children turning 12, there will be a three month grace period in which they are exempt from the requirements.

Anyone over the age of 12 will have to provide full proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test in order to enter,” Rathwell said. “For kids that are 12 or just about to turn 12 there’s obviously a bit of a grace period in order for them to get what they need,” Rathwell added.

“We’re falling in line with City Council’s decision regarding upgrading the requirements needed to enter all City owned facilities, REAL as a City owned facility needed to fall in line with that,” Rathwell added.

The Government of Saskatchewan has established the following acceptable forms of proof of full vaccination:
• Wallet cards received at time of immunization;
• A printed copy or screenshot of your MySaskHealthRecord vaccine certificate (with or without a QR code);
• A COVID-19 vaccine printout from Saskatchewan Health Authority Public Health;
• A QR code/MySaskHealthRecord vaccine certificate uploaded to your SK Vax Wallet app;
• Official proof of vaccine documents from other provinces may be considered.

Individuals who do not have proof of vaccination have the option of providing proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result from within the last 72 hours before entry.

This test is to be done at the expense of the individual.

Self-administered take-home rapid antigen tests (e.g. pictures of negative tests) will not be accepted.

In addition to the proof of vaccination or negative test, a photo I.D will be required from anyone 18 and older.

Youth aged 12-17 will also need to show I.D unless accompanied by an adult with proof of full vaccination and I.D. Youth aged 12 to 17, visiting REAL without an adult will be allowed to present a photo I.D, birth certificate, or health services card.
