Rams season ends with loss to Manitoba

The University of Regina Rams saw their season come to an end Saturday afternoon at home as they lost 22-3 to Manitoba.  The win by the Bisons clinched second for them and gives them a home playoff game next weekend.

Playing their fourth starting quarterback of the season, the Rams struggled offensively collecting just 125 total yards as Bryce Welter was 13 of 22 for 116 yards passing with two interceptions.

The loss drops to Regina to a record of 1-5 which will be good for last in the Canada West standings.

At halftime, former Ram and current Roughrider Jon Ryan and his family presented the team with the largest scholarship gift ever received by the Rams.

Over the course of several years, funds from contributions made by the family’s Bob Ryan Foundation and the Gear up with Jon Ryan Foundation were directed to a fund within the Rams Sport Legacy Fund at SaskSport. By 2021 the Bob Ryan fund had grown to $200,000.

This has allowed the team to establish a Bob Ryan Memorial Scholarship at the University of Regina. The scholarship is providing five annual awards, each in the amount of $2,000, in support of Rams student-athletes to help them achieve their academic and athletic goals.
