Plans are being finalized for a winter festival in Regina this February that will run from the 4th to the 13th.

One area where events will be held is at Evraz Place. REAL President and CEO Tim Reid says if all goes well, it will be a busy time for the Queen City as people take part in free events and events where there will be an admission charge.

“There will be over 20 activations across the city which will generate six million dollars in economic impact with an estimated $120,000 people taking part.” Reid said. “Iceville will return, we have some concerts planned for the Brandt Centre, Confederation Park will be filled with ice carvings and illuminated light installations. There will also be things to enjoy downtown, in the warehouse district and Wascana Centre.”

Leasa Gibbons with the Warehouse District says a festival like this should be something that will get people out and about enjoying winter activities and that this is something they are hoping will be a yearly affair.

“We are going to put together a safe event and embrace our winter in two weeks of February.” Gibbons said. “There will be much more than just the traditional winter things and we are looking forward to providing more information as the date gets closer.”
