Angels 4 Warmth Scarves in the Park event returns to downtown Regina

The weather forecast Tuesday and Wednesday have certainly proved the need to stay warm in Regina and area.

Thanks to Angels 4 Warmth — who held their annual Scarves in the Park event Tuesday afternoon — it’s a little bit easier for those less fortunate.

President Donna Curran says with this week’s weather, it’s certainly a timely thing to do.

“Every year, we donate almost 50,000-60,000 items of warmth, and of course December, January and February are our busiest times,” Curran said. “(Tuesday) is definitely the onslaught of colder things to come, so I think it was very timely for us to choose (Tuesday).”

Curran says there’s a great amount of support from their volunteer base.

“So far, I think our count is about 40,000 plus, maybe a bit more,” Curran said. “For the Scarves in the Park, we have almost 200 scarves out for people, so it’s pretty incredible what our volunteers do.”
