Struch removed as Pats HC; Paddock back behind the bench

With the Regina Pats sitting with a record of 6-10, the team is making a change behind the bench.

On Thursday morning, the team announced Dave Struch has been let go as head coach with John Paddock going back to take over for what the team says will be the remainder of this year and next season.

Struch served as the Pats’ head coach from 2018-2021 and had a record of 55-101-9-6 in 171 games.  He had been an assistant with the team from 2014-17.

Paddock admits Struch was left in an unenviable spot in taking over the club when he did.

“We had to trade because we were hosting. Other teams traded just as much or more, us, Swift Current and Moose Jaw are still clearly paying the price, Paddock said. “The cupboard was bare, we built it back as best we could.”

The Pats will start a six-game road trip in Moose Jaw Saturday.
