Updated charges after August hit-and-run leads to victim’s death

A 27-year-old man from Regina is facing charges after a stolen vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run collision that ultimately killed the other driver back in August.

On Aug. 2, just before 10:00 PM, a collision took place at the intersection of Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Street. The alleged suspect fled the scene on foot. Two victims were taken to hospital, with one of them in critical condition at the time. The 48-year-old man that was in critical condition later died in hospital due to his injuries.

The investigation into this incident led to the arrest of 27-year-old Jeremy Favel. He was originally charged with the following:

· 2 X Failure to Stop After Accident that results in Bodily Harm,

· Theft of Motor Vehicle,

· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 ,

· Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order,

· Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm.

However, after one of the victims in the crash died in hospital, Favel faces an updated list of charges:

· One charge of Failure to Stop After Accident that results in Bodily Harm
is now:
Failure to Stop After an Accident that Results in Death.

· Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm
is now:
Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death.

Favel will appear in court on these new charges Friday afternoon.
