Connor Bedard scored with one second left in overtime to lift the Regina Pats to a 3-2 win in Lethbridge on Wednesday night.

Matthew Kieper made 40 saves in the win, that improves the Pats to 3-0 since John Paddock made his coaching return.

After the game Paddock said the three on three overtime always allows for many scoring chances.

“That’s what three on three ends up being is a scenario where you start trading chances and they had a break, but we were able to stop play and come back with a three on one, Cole Dubinsky clearly made a great pass to Connor on that one,” Paddock said, when asked about the goal.

The other two Pats goals came from Alex Geci, which happened to be the young Slovaks first two WHL tallies in just his second game.

Paddock said he’s been impressed with Geci’s play so far.

“I thought Alex was fine Tuesday night and again tonight,” Paddock said during the postgame show. “He’s got good skills and you could see him protecting the puck during overtime, he’s strong and I think he’s also got a decent head for the game.”

The Pats (9-10-0-0) will have a couple days off now before their annual Agribition road trip takes them to Red Deer, for a Saturday night match up with the Rebels (14-7-1-0).

That game can be heard on 620 CKRM, pre-game coverage will start at 7:35 p.m. with puck drop at 8:00 p.m..
