Huge donation from Nutrien starts Food Banks of Saskatchewan holiday campaign on right foot

A huge boost to the the Food Banks of Saskatchewan “Feeding Holiday Cheer” campaign has come from Nutrien.

With the campaign getting underway Tuesday, Nutrien provided $250,000.

Food Banks of Saskatchewan Executive Director Michael Kincade says Nutrien is a huge supporter of trying to reduce hunger for those in need whether they be in urban or rural Saskatchewan.

“Nutrien has been supporting us for years and it is so great to see their continued support this year with this big donation.” Foodbanks of Saskatchewan Executive Director Michael Kincade said. “$250,000 gives us a big start to reaching one million dollars for this campaign to help feed Saskatchewan people really in need of food over the holidays.”

There are 36 food banks across the province that Kincade says are always in need so every donation, big or small, certainly helps and helping is something that is becoming tougher and tougher to do because of what we are going through.

“The pandemic has changed things.” Kincade said. “It was a problem before the pandemic, but things have changed over the last year or so and we really see the long lasting impact that we need to prepare for in the post-pandemic era.  At the end of the day, the importance of reducing hunger for those in need is not decreased any.”

Anyone wishing to donate can do so by visiting the Food Banks of Saskatchewan website.
