The Saskatchewan government has launched a new awareness campaign to remind everyone that a little time away from social media can be a good thing.
The Take a Break initiative also includes a website that can offer children some ideas on activities they can do besides logging on some screen time.
Education Minister Dustin Duncan says the government launched the Take a Break campaign to help out with children’s mental health. “We just wanted to provide a reminder to students that it’s important to have a healthy lifestyle when it comes to to their screen time, when it comes to their social media times, this is all apart of putting a greater focus on mental health and well being.”
The website offers plenty of valuable information according to Duncan. He mentions that it shows how social media can affect many aspects of an individuals life including their sleep patterns.
Children are not the only who can benefit from the Take a Break website Duncan says, parents can also benefit from visiting the website and providing a standard for their children by taking time away from social media themselves.
