Man charged after attempting to steal phone at downtown Regina business

A 24-year-old man is facing numerous charges after an incident at a downtown business Saturday afternoon.

Regina Police were called to the 1800 block of Rose Street around 4:45 p.m. where a suspect entered a store and stole a phone.

He was followed out by what police say was the victim, before producing a knife and trying to get in a taxi.

Police then arrived and the suspect tried to flee on foot before he was apprehended on the 1800 block of Osler Street.

As a result Donald Deng, has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and theft under $5,000.

The accused will make a court appearance Monday morning.
