Riders re-sign two, add one more

The Riders have three more players under contract–one who may come as a bit of a surprise.

That is receiver Paul McRoberts. He returns for a third season with the Riders after a bumpy ride in 2021.

McRoberts started in Week 3 vs. the Redblacks. He caught all four of his targets for 42 yards and added a carry for nine yards. The next week he was off the roster, replaced by Ricardo Louis.

In fact, McRoberts didn’t return to the starting lineup until the Western Semi-Final, after Louis suffered a season-ending injury. In three games McRoberts had 10 catches for 92 yards.

Fullback/special teamer Albert Awachie returns to the team for 2022. He shone brightest in the Western Final making a touchdown-saving tackle on a return, and forcing a turnover on downs on a fake punt. This will be Awachie’s fifth season in green.

The Riders have also added fullback James Tuck. Tuck has played eight seasons in the CFL, including two seasons in Edmonton under now-Riders offensive coordinator Jason Maas.
