A social media campaign to honour the late Betty White has had a huge impact at the Regina Humane Society.

At the end of 2021 the world lost the trail blazing comedian and beloved television star Betty White just shy of her 100th birthday a milestone that White would have marked today.

White’s love for animals could be felt through her efforts for charitable animal organizations , and her work with animals both on and off the screen. A global social media campaign was launched – encouraging fans to donate to local animal shelters and organizations .

The Regina humane Societies Bill Thorn says the impact White had on people could be felt at home here in Regina – as they have had a huge influx of donations today.

“We usually see $1,000 to $2,000 in donations in a given week – in the last 24 hours we have seen north of $15,000 in donations, and they are still pouring in. We had 300 notifications for donations through our website this morning.”
