Federal agriculture minister Marie-Claude Bibeau says Let’s talk day is an opportunity to speak openly about mental health and work together to break the stigma.
She says its important to reach out for help when needed.
And sometimes, the simple act of listening can work wonders for someone under stress.
She says farming can be demanding, draining and challenging, especially during a pandemic.
Other issues include supply chain disruptions, weather, and trade barriers.
Bibeau pointed to a number of federal initiatives to support resources and offer a helping hand.
She is encouraging farmers to reflect on mental health and continue the conversation year round.
