Report: Riders adding two star linebackers

With free agency opening late this morning, the Riders appear ready to add to their linebacking corps.

The first is a familiar face–Derrick Moncrief. TSN’s Farhan Lalji reports that the team has agreed to a deal to bring him back. Moncrief spent his first three seasons in green before going to the NFL. The 28 year old played with the Elks last season.

As well, the Riders have agreed to a contract with Darnell Sankey, according to TSN’s Dave Naylor. Sankey was the CFL leader with 97 tackles in 2021 for the Stampeders. For that, Sankey was voted a Western All Star.

We’ll break down all the moves and hear from Riders GM Jeremy O’Day on the Sports Cage starting at 4:00 pm.
