Globe Theatre returns with first show in two years

The Globe Theatre welcomes people back with its first show in two years.

The theatre presents The Glories of Gloria Revue, created by Mooky McGuinty and award-winning comedy director, writer, and performer, Cal McCrystal.

Last week, the show opened with a sold-out show and will be continuing performances until March 6.

McGuinty says the show is a little bit like a variety show.

“There’s puppetry; there’s music, dancing, magic, there’s a lot of slapstick and shenanigans,” she explained. “It’s several vignettes put together and load of customers and lots of fun.”

“I made this show really for everyone,” she continued. “You can bring little kids, elderly people; you can bring a first date; it’s a show that has lots of different styles of comedy.”

She said that getting in front of a live crowd again is moving.

“I haven’t done a live show since 2019, and I’ve been performing professionally since 15 years old. To come back was emotional, and to hear people just letting go and laughing and wiping tears from their eyes, it’s so heartwarming.”

Not only is McGuinty returning to the stage for the first since 2019, but she is also getting a chance to perform in front of her hometown crowd, which she says is an added treat.

“Generally, I tour internationally, and my friends here in town, some of them have never even seen what I do,” she said. “To get to share my work here on home turf is a real treat.”
