Pats outlast Wheat Kings 7-6

The Regina Pats were able to convert the extra point on their touchdown against the Brandon Wheat Kings as the Pats edged Brandon 7-6, earning a road victory.

Tanner Howe and Stanislav Svozil lead the scoring charge with a pair of goals each. Easton Armstrong, Braxton Whitehead and Layton Feist chipped in with single markers.

The Pats were able to gain momentum after scoring three straight goals in the second period to gain the lead, as they were able to hold off a late charge from the Wheat Kings in the third period.

Assistant Coach Ken Schneider says they were able to build off the momentum. “We really started to get our mojo the last five minutes of the first period and it did carry into the second. We got back to chipping pucks and making their defence have to turn and chase pucks down. We scored those goals in the blue paint tonight, which was really great to see.”

Drew Sim made 40 saves to earn the victory. Connor Bedard had two assists to extend his scoring streak to 13 games.

The Pats are back in action Friday night when they host the Red Deer Rebels.
