Sask grain movement showing disappointing results this winter

The latest figures show continued disappointing results with prairie grain movement by rail this winter.

Milt Poirier with QGI Consulting says CN Rail has supplied less than half the hopper cars ordered by grain companies in the past 8 weeks, and CP Rail is not much better.

He says CP Rail has supplied less than 60 percent of the hopper cars ordered in Saskatchewan for part of the winter.

Poirier does not expect rail service to show much improvement until the start of the new crop year August first.
