Regina police pursue stolen vehicle, arrest man

Regina police arrested a man who tried to evade arrest early Saturday morning, allegedly driving a stolen car.

Police say they tried to perform a traffic stop but the vehicle fled at a high speed. The driver struck a parked car and an unmarked police car.

Police eventually were able to use tire deflaters near Mikkelson Drive and McCarthy Boulevard, with the driver fleeing on foot.

Daniel Thomas Ward, 35, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, flight from a peace officer, operate conveyance dangerous to public, possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and assaulting an officer with a weapon, among other charges.

Ward is scheduled to appear in provincial court tomorrow morning.
