Federal government provides funds to develop farm biosecurity

The federal government is providing up to 113 thousand dollars to develop biosecurity technology to help farmers reduce the risk of disease outbreaks.

Building on an existing farm health technology program, Be Seen Be Safe limited is using the funds to research and develop the best hardware solution to allow real-time tracking and tracing of trailers.

After the trials are complete, the company will publish and widely distribute recommendations on the best fit technology.

By using data to monitor the movement of these vehicles, farmers can rapidly contain an outbreak, limit losses and reduce the time it takes to return to normal business.

Disease outbreak can have major impacts on animal welfare, food supply, and producer mental health and result in significant economic losses.

As a result, the federal government is supporting the development of biosecurity technologies to help farmers manage the risk.
