A local man is facing a charge with an assault with a weapon after an incident on Saturday morning.

Officers received a report in the north central area of the city of man who received injuries to his head.

Police discovered the man  had already walked to the hospital prior to the report being issued.

The assailant and the weapon, a hammer, was located a short time later by officers.

40 year old John Trail was released on conditions and will appear in court to face charges on June 6.
