Getzlaf plays final game in Anaheim

Ryan Getzlaf got to enjoy one last skate on the pond as the local product played his last home game for the Anahiem Ducks on Sunday night.

Before the game the team honoured Getzlaf, which was highlighted by Getzalf’s former teammate, Teemu Selanne driving one of the team’s gift, an off road vehicle on to the ice surface.

Even though the Ducks lost to the St. Louis Blues on Sunday night 6-3, Getzlaf showed he had a little magic left in his stick as he made a beautiful backhand pass to Adam Henrique who scored to give Getzlaf an assist in his final game at home.

There are still two more games left on the schedule for the Anaheim Ducks, they visit the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday before they wrap up the season on Friday when they meet the Dallas Stars.

Getzlaf is leaving quite the legacy behind in Anaheim, the Regina product is the franchises leader in points, assists, playoff scoring and games played.

He was also the team’s captain for 12 seasons and helped the Ducks win the Stanley Cup in 2007.
