22 COVID-19 Outbreaks in Care Homes Province Wide

The provincial report on COVID-19 cases came out today – with a startling number attached to outbreaks in care homes.

Over the last week 22 outbreaks occurred in Saskatchewan care homes and long term care facilities.

The provinces weekly update on the state of the Pandemic in Saskatchewan also showed 829 new cases of COVID-19 – with 20 patients admitted to the ICU.

The province reported 14 new deaths due to the virus.

Regina and Saskatoon still remain the highest points of infection for new COVID-19 cases with Regina reporting 141 new cases and Saskatoon seeing 231 new cases. Notably these numbers do not include home rapid tests.

Vaccinations continue to grow provincially with close to 86 percent of kids five and older receiving at least one dose of the vaccine.

At this point – just over half of the adults in the province have had a booster dose.
