Electoral Commission to look at Ridings and Boundaries

Its time to look at electoral boundaries in Saskatchewan again.

Every ten years, a committee is put together to examine the electoral map, and population.

The idea, is to make sure there are approximately the same number of voters in each riding.

Today, the Provincial Government announced who will make up the panel.

The Commission consists of a chairperson nominated by the Chief Justice of Saskatchewan, one person nominated by the government and one person nominated by the Leader of the Opposition.

The members of the Commission will be Justice Donald Layh (chairperson), Joe Donlevy, former Chief of Staff to the Premier, and Frank Quennell, former Minister of Justice.

The committee is to prepare an interim map, and hold public hearings on the changes.

The final report will be issued in six months.
