Finland finishes off Canada at IIHF U18 Championships

Canada’s run at the IIHF Under 18 Championships has to come to an end after being defeated by Finland 6-5 in overtime.

Canada had 5-3 late in the third period before taking a pair of penalties that led to Finland scoring two powerplay goals in the final five minutes.

Joakim Kemell scored the game winning goal for Finland 28 seconds into overtime.

The powerplay proved to be the difference for Finland as they went 4 for 6 on the extra man advantage.

Connor Bedard scored two goals for Canada in the loss.

Finland now advances to the semi-finals on Saturday.
