Arrests in Ottawa at Rolling Thunder convoy

Seven “Rolling Thunder” convoy protesters were arrested in Ottawa for various charges, including assaulting police.

Ottawa police say a group of vehicles tried to breach the zone near Parliament Hill which is off-limits to vehicles. There is another vehicle exclusion zone set up by the National War Memorial.

A group of about 100 gathered near the National War Memorial but were removed from the site by police during the demonstrations.

The protest started relatively calmly but as it grew dark, big-rigs, campers and other trucks drove into the city’s core, where they were met by police in tactical gear.

Police say 24 vehicles were towed. There have been no reported injuries, and Ottawa police say they remain in full control of the streets in the nation’s capital.
