Bruins win SJHL title for first time since 1999

The Estevan Bruins claimed their first Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League title since 1999 with a 2-0 win over the Flin Flon Bombers Friday night at Affinity Place.

Kian Calder and Olivier Pouliot scored the Bruins’ goals, while Boston Bilous made 29 saves in the shutout.

Bilous was named playoff MVP with a 12-3-1 record, with a 2.00 goals against average and a 92.8 save percentage and two playoff shutouts. Pouliot topped all SJHL scorers with 11 goals and 11 assists in 15 games.

Both the Bruins and the Bombers will take part in the Centennial Cup in Estevan for national Junior A supremacy starting May 19th.
