Eleven places set high temperature records Saturday

Unless you were looking directly at the calendar Saturday, one might have assumed it was a regular summer day.

But the late spring Saturday brought a hot flash for many in the province, with 11 different places setting high temperature records for the day, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Moose Jaw reached up to 35.9, breaking their old record of 33.9 set in 1986. Regina got up to 35.1, breaking their record of 33.2 set in 1988.

Other places that set records (with their old records in parenthesis) were: Assiniboia 34.6 (34.5, 1986), Broadview 31.3 (30.8, 1988), Elbow 33.2 (33.0, 1988), Lucky Lake 31.6 (28.8, 2003), Melfort 31.7 (31.5, 1986), Outlook 32.2 (31.0, 1988), Rockglen 31.0 (28.3, 1974), Saskatoon 32.1 (31.8, 1988) and Watrous 33.5 (32.0, 1986).

Environment and Climate Change Canada said the temperature records reported have been derived from a selection of historical stations in each geographic area that were active during the period of record.
