It was anything but a quiet night in Saskatchewan.
Nearly the entire southern half of the province was under a thunderstorm watch or a warning, with some communities experiencing tornado warnings.
Environment Canada’s Danielle Desjardins says they have not received any reports of any official tornadoes in the province from Thursday night as of yet, but they are following up on a couple reports.
She noted there was one post on social media that indicated a possible tornado touching down near Moose Jaw.
The other report of a tornado that Environment Canada is trying to confirm, took place near the Saskatchewan and Manitoba border.
There were numerous reports of hail from different areas of the province according to Desjardins. She noted they received reports of walnut sized hail near Morse, Herbert got nickel sized hail, Yorkton had golf ball sized hail along with reports of local flooding, ping pong ball sized hail was reported in Atwater, Regina Beach had hail reported between the size of a loonie and a golf ball.
There were also reports of hail at Last Mountain Lake and in Earl Grey along with trees down in Chruchbridge.
It appears the good news is that the worst of thunderstorms have moved from the area for the time being, Desjardins said that Manitoba will be feeling the brunt of the storm later today. She pointed out that as a result, the southeast corner of the province may experience additional thunderstorms on Friday.
