Summer turning up the heat this week

Mother Nature will be turning up the heat.

Regina will see highs ranging from the high 20s to the low 30’s this week, with Saturday and Sunday topping off the week at 33°c.

Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, said that the heat is going to stick around for next week.

“We have a big ridge of upper high-pressure building all over Western Canada and the Western United States,” she said. “That is going to build the heat into much of Western North America for the next week or so.”

Lang said that some serve storms will be mixed in with the heat.

“We had our big bout of server weather, and now we are going to build some heat into it. We will probably have a couple of days punctuated by severe storms in there as well.”

Lang added that people should take precautions and be careful in the heat.
