Regina Police arrest Balgonie man on slew drug trafficking charges

The Regina Police Service has arrested and charged a 39-year-old with several drug trafficking charges.

Mathew James McDonald of Balgonie was arrested and charged after an investigation led to a search warrant of a residence in Balgonie on July 8.

As a result of the search warrant, the following was seized by police:

  • 2169.31 grams of fentanyl;
  • 1418.01 grams of cocaine;
  • 914.14 grams of methamphetamine;
  • $8,765 in Canadian currency;
  • Sawed-off .22 calibre rifle: and
  • Digital scales, packaging and other items support cocaine trafficking.
McDonald is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl as well as:
  • Proceeds Over $5000
  • Careless use of a firearm/ Contravention of storage regulations
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
McDonald made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on July 11.
