The latest Saskatchewan crop report says fields are advancing due to warm and rainy weather in many areas.
Crops extension specialist Sara Tetland says many crops are behind normal development due to excess moisture.
She says parts of the southwest and west central regions received rain this week, but much more is needed for crop and hay growth.
The majority of crops are rated fair to good.
Some crops won’t recover due to dryness in western areas and being drowned out in some eastern areas.
Cropland topsoil moisture is rated 4 percent surplus, 69 percent adequate, 23 percent short and four percent very poor.
Rainfall ranged from nil to 89 millimeters in the Bienfait area.
Crop loss this past week was caused by dry conditions, grasshoppers, gophers, flooding, strong winds, hail and lodging.
