Second Case of Monkeypox Confirmed in Saskatchewan

There is a second confirmed case of ‘monkeypox” in Saskatchewan.

The first case was announced July 13th.

Like the first case, for privacy reasons, the health authority is not sharing the person’s gender, age, or where they are from.

Monkeypox is an extremely rare disease, and it is spread through intimate, or prolonged close contact.

  • prolonged face-to-face close contact;
  • touching bodily fluids or lesions of a person who is sick with the disease; or
  • exposure to contaminated objects such as bed linens or clothing.

Typical symptoms include fever, rash and swollen lymph nodes.
