Two arrested by SWAT on firearm charges

Two people are facing firearms charges after an incident began late Sunday morning.

On Sunday, at 10:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1100 block of North Blanchfield Street.

Police had received information that a vehicle driver gave a ride to a man and woman who had requested a ride from a rides webpage. The two then revealed a firearm, claiming they were attempting to sell it. The gun was pointed at the driver. The two then exited the vehicle without paying and entered a residence.

Later at 4:20 p.m., the Regina Police Service’s SWAT Team arrived and began removing the two people.

At 4:25 p.m., the woman exited the residence and was taken into custody; at 6:35, the man was taken into custody. The man was found to have multiple warrants for his arrest from Regina and Fort Qu’Appelle and was on release orders to keep the peace.

A 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman are both charged with various firearms, receiving additional separate charges.

The two made their first appearance in Provincial Court on Monday.
